Curiosity and Persistence
How is persistence in STEM impacted by children's early curiosity?
In the current project, we explore the relation between curiosity and persistence in STEM in early childhood. Curiosity, as conceived as the motivation to seek information, is likely inherently related to persistence. Given that, in this study children first engage in a fun science task with a researcher before completing different measures of their curiosity and persistence. Exploring the relation between curiosity and persistence during a science task in early childhood may be important in considering early science learning and will inform research and practice around science pedagogy during preschool.
